Many schools create a coin representing each desired behavior they want to reward students for demonstrating. Additionally some schools create special event coins just for attendees of optional events. Further you can create prestigious coins for top students only. Your imagination is the only limit. You can create as many batches of coins as you would like. You can make them of varying value and rarity depending on their importance.
To create a coin, go the the "Coins" section and click the "Mint batch" option to start the wizard...
Number of coins
Choose how many of this coin to create. This is a permanent limit for this batch of coins. If you don't want the coin to run out, then enter a very large number. This is handy for creating special coins that have a very limited supply and thus, students are strongly encourage to collect them due to their rarity.
Points per coin
Choose a point value for your coin. This point value determines how many points are added to the student's reward store balance and house score when they earn the coin. Typically you should give higher point values for rare or or important coins.
Given your coin a name, e.g. "Determination", "Persistence", "Student of the week" etc.
Make your coin discoverable if you want it to be displayed to students as a coin that they can earn at your school. Students can browse these coins to see what is available, how many points they are worth, their rarity and more. This is a strong incentive for many students.
Enter the information that tells students what they need to do in order to earn the coin. This is displayed to students if you made the coin discoverable in the previous section. Otherwise they will only see the description after they earn it.
Choose a rarity for your coin. If this is a limited supply coin you might choose "Rare". If it is a very prestigious coin you might choose "Exclusive". Coins are listed by their rarity when teachers are selecting the coin to give out - this is helpful so they don't accidentally give rare coins out too frequently. Rarity is also display on discoverable coins to students as an incentive to pursue them.
Choose the shape for your coin, select from round, octagonal or square. Some schools plan ahead and give coins shapes based on their important, rarity or purpose.
Upload and edit your coins image.
Click "Finish" to mint the batch of coins.
Now you have created the coins but they are not available for teachers to distribute yet. When you are ready for them to be issuable, click the "Circulate" option on the coin in the "Reserved Batches" list. This extra step allows you to create coins ahead of events for example, and only enable them when ready.
